The following dashboard compiles key food system data and indicators that allow Central Texas partners to collectively monitor and evaluate our progress toward achieving our food system goals. Together, we can help create a FRESH future for all Central Texans.
Indicators in this dashboard are organized by the food system sectors described below, providing a snapshot of the current state of our food system. This dashboard also includes a section on Food Access and Charitable Services to paint a picture of the current state of food access and downstream solutions. Click on each tile to view the dashboard for each of the food system sectors.
Woven throughout the food system sectors are indicators having to do with food justice: the right to grow, sell, and eat nutritious food free from systemic and structural inequities that exist within our food systems.
The indicators currently focus on six counties within Central Texas: the five Austin/Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area counties (Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson), as well as McLennan County. We plan to expand to Central Texas Food Bank’s entire 21-county service area in the future.
This page will expand in the coming months to include completed Food Access Community Needs Assessments (CNAs), as well as dashboard tracking goals and progress toward local food system plans.
For optimal viewing, open the dashboards on a device with a large screen (e.g., tablet, laptop, monitor). Click on the double arrow button on the bottom right to open each visualization in full-screen mode in order to see the visualizations in more detail and toggle between filters more easily. Note that basemaps may not contain the most up-to-date names for certain locations (e.g., Fort Cavazos). Basemaps cannot be updated manually by Central Texas Food Bank.
